  • We said our good byes and left Ostrava on a rainy morning. We would stay the night in Brno and then continue to Prague to return Sammy to his parents :-) I tried to chose interesting back roads like this one, but found navigating much more challenging than in the US, and Larry didn't like driving in Czech at all. Too many drivers with too much anger and unbeliveably agressive driving habits, ignoring both the laws and common sense.
  • This was too bad becuase the countryside is so lovely, even on a cloudy day.

  • Moravian Karst with its many caves. This area used to be my playground when I was in college in nearby Brno the same way Yosemite is my playground in California. We stopped to visit Balcarka Cave.

  • The tour guide had the most bored intonation to her voice that I have ever encountered. She needs a real job.
  • We stopped for lunch in Křtiny, a small town first mentioned in 1237.

  • This cave had been used by the military for many years. First the Czechoslovakian military, then the Germans who opened a war time factory there, then soon after the war it was the communists, and then the military of now free country after 1989. Only recently was the cave returned to the national park. We had a very interestign tour lead by the exact oposite of the borded young lady at Balcarka.
